PayKademy launches in San Francisco

The presentation of Deep Dive into Electronic Payments coming up on Feb. 20, 2018, marks the official launch of PayKademy in San Francisco. Created by The BayPay Forum, a global organization representing approximately 14,000 payment, fntech and commerce executives, the academy represents an extension of the group's educational and thought-leadership forums.

"There is no school for payments today; we wanted to create one," said Daniel Chatelain, Managing Director of The BayPay Forum. The inaugural course sessions will be conducted on-site in San Francisco and will also be streamed online. "We have two courses, and each course has two modules, with a morning and afternoon session," he said. "It's a full-day course."

According to The BayPay Forum, the initial course is tailored to individuals who have a basic to intermediate understanding of electronic payments and are interested in learning more about the acquiring and merchant acceptance side of the businesses. The course is designed for managers and staff working for established as well as startup firms.

Expert led courses

Leading off the PayKademy courses will be members of payments industry consultancy firm Global Vision Group, including Thomas Layman, founder and President of Global Vision and a former Visa Inc. executive with over 30 years of international and domestic experience in the financial services and electronic payments industry. GV Group Principal Vinod Zalpuri and Senior Consultant Kevin Atwood will also present course material.

In module one of the two-module day-long course, participants will gain an understanding of key players and their roles in the payments industry, payments terminology, traditional players and new entrants, player interdependency risks, risk management, payment network rules and licensing requirements, evolution of legacy players, alternative providers, and a discussion of aggregators and payfac models.

Module two will cover revenue and expense drivers related to the issuing and merchant side of the business; impacts of innovation and technologies on key players and profitability; managing merchant acquiring programs from revenue sources to expense drivers and profitability metrics; credit underwriting; unique characteristics of individual players from acquiring banks and processors to ISOs and payfacs; and inherent risks.

The next two courses in the PayKademy series will cover electronic payments risk management and compliance, and how to drive adoption of disruptive innovation. There is a fee to participate in each session. For more information about PayKademy and course enrollment visit www.paykademy.com/ . end of article
