TRANSACT 2024, another stand-out conference

TRANSACT 2024, the Electronic Transactions Association's commendable, comprehensive annual conference, drew over 3,000 attendees, 150 exhibitors and 120 speakers from all parts of the payments ecosystem, according to Jodie Kelley, CEO of the ETA.

In opening comments, Kelley stated that the event is where the business of payments happens and where industry stakeholders can learn what's new and what's next while developing their professional networks and deepening connections in the payments community.

"I encourage everyone to take advantage of the incredible network of people in this room," she said, thanking exhibitors, sponsors and ETA board members for their support. She also invited Transact newcomers to a special first-time attendee reception sponsored by Truist.

Kelley further noted the four pillars of ETA member services, as follows:

  • Convene: The association hosts 18 events that provide opportunities for business development and networking throughout the year.

  • Collaborate: Over 226 member companies collaborate and develop industry guidelines through the association's 8 committees and numerous working groups.

  • Educate: The ETA does this primarily through courses and the CPP credential program.

  • Advocate: The ETA shapes public policy, representing members' interests at the federal level, in the 50 states and in Canada.

Agenda highlights

Held April 16 to 19, 2024, at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the conference offered 38 track sessions on three stages. The agenda covered a wide range of topics and provided 12 credits to professionals enrolled in the ETA's Certified Payment Professional Program. In addition, a special EMPOW(H)ER breakfast and luncheon program celebrated diversity and inclusion in payments.

In addition, the ETA presented Talus Pay with ISO of the Year and FlexCharge as Most Innovative Product or Solution at the ETA Star Awards and Visa Celebration Event.

Shay Bloch, chief strategy officer at JoBox, which was recently acquired by Talus Pay, provided live product demos in the ISV Village area of the exhibit hall and commended the ETA on a successful conference. "We are proud to make a difference for the hardworking people in the field with software that makes their lives easier," he said.

A long-standing tradition

Austin Talley, CEO at Everyware, affirmed that the ETA is a leading advocacy and trade association for the payments industry.

"ETA and its certification programs have been on Everyware's radar since our company was founded in 2015," he said. "TRANSACT was the first ETA event we attended as a company and have been a loyal exhibitor, content contributor and volunteer ever since. In addition to product recognition and recipient of ETA TRANSACT's Top 10 Payments ISVs award, our leaders are also actively involved with the association."

Talley also mentioned that he enjoyed speaking about embedded payments this year in a panel discussion with senior leaders David Rodriguez and Kevin Feagan who volunteered with ETA's Young Payments Professionals program and was named a Top Payments Sales Professional by ETA for achieving excellence in the payments industry.

Leo Patching, founder and CEO at Kompliant, first heard of the ETA and TRANSACT in 2017, when he joined a payments startup. "The company was an ETA member, and the annual ETA conference was a month into my time as CEO," he said. "Attending the conference was a great opportunity to connect with customers, partners and prospects all in one place."

Patching went on to say that TRANSACT 2024 was well attended and a lot of the key people in the industry were excited to connect. Programming of content was good, he added, and led to good conversations in the surrounding parties and meetings that are always a fun addition to the conference. end of article
