Letter from the editor
ith this issue of The Green Sheet about to
go to press, a global cyber attack target-
ing multiple entities, including the U.S.
W Energy Department, has people across
America on edge, wondering how we can adequately
protect the infrastructures we all rely on, the sensitive
data we transmit to accomplish everyday transac-
tions, and our very identities at risk of being posted
on the dark web. For many people, this is only a
passing concern unless their own personal data is
compromised. But for professionals in the expanding
identity community, protecting our identities and the
networks we use, and thus our way of life, is an ongo-
ing challenge they have taken on.
This issue's lead article, the second in a series on
digital identities, shares insights from several leaders
in the identity community. And the innovations on
passwordless sign-in and reusable identity brought
about by their dedication are reassuring.
Also reassuring is the generosity of our expert con-
tributors, who share wisdom and advice gleaned from
their successful careers on such topics as the crypto
community's beginning to figure out what ISOs have Bridge the Gap

what they're designed for; the multiple advantages
of cash discount programs; the wisdom of focusing advertising dollars
on business fundamentals rather than on innova-
tion during uncertain economic times; and how com- and bottom line
panies can protect themselves if banks turn against
them when there are bank failures or other signs of
unrest in the economy. Customized advertising campaigns
