e are grateful to the read-
                                 ers, contributing writers,
                                 advertisers, technology
                    W partners, advisers and
staff who, through 40 years and in countless ways,
have helped us advance our mission to empower
and connect payments professionals. From the start,
we've aimed to be a resource for people seeking use-
ful, actionable information to help them advance in
their careers. We've also provided perspectives and
connections that can lead to promising new directions
        and relationships.

Contributing to our retrospective series, this issue's
lead article features payments leaders who share how
The Green Sheet shines as a lasting resource that has
enriched the industry and helped them thrive in their
respective careers. While we do not know what life
and business will be like 40 years from now, we do
know the payments business continues to be dynam-
ic, and all indicators point toward that remaining true
into the foreseeable future. Thus, we will keep our
focus on developing resources that provide reliable
news and guidance to help anyone with ambition,
curiosity and the willingness to pull up their shirt
sleeves to prosper in their chosen payments niche.

In the news, we've covered the upcoming beta testing
of the PBC Cannabis Banking Certification Program,
which seeks to address a growing need for compli-
ance experts in the cannabis industry; a J.D. Power
report signaling that digital commerce remains resil-
ient amid inflation; a Mercedes-Benz and Mastercard
partnership that rolled out in-car payments in Ger-
many; a McKinsey & Co. report that payments rev-
enues are setting records; and a class-action lawsuit
against PayPal that alleges the company stifles com-
        petition through anti-steering rules.
In our Education and Views sections you'll find a
discussion of rules that must be followed for compli-
ant surcharging; a second installment in a two-part
series on what professional payments agents need to
thrive in business; advice on how retailers as well as
service providers can harness sales data and inven-
        tory management to steer toward higher profitability;
one payments professional’s look back on a career full
of challenges and wins; and reflections on how, for
one industry veteran, interviewing payments leaders
brought back memories of finding a true calling.

Not to be missed are product and company pro-
files, and plenty of updates on new partner-
ships, awards, research, appointments and other
milestones within the payments community. To
share your news, please send a press release to
press@greensheet.com, and for comments and ques-
        tions, please email greensheet@greensheet.com.
