SMB technology suite for unified customer experience

Product: Vital POS
Company: TSYS

TSYS Merchant Solutions LLC launched Vital POS, a solution designed for small and midsize businesses (SMBs). Company representatives said the solution combines business management functions with cloud-based POS system, enabling users to manage an array of business functions while providing a unified customer experience across devices, platforms and channels.

Philip McHugh, senior executive vice president and president, merchant solutions at TSYS, said Vital POS goes above and beyond traditional POS functionality. "Business owners are looking for more than just payment acceptance, and that's what Vital delivers," he said. "It allows them to run their whole business on the platform through a single user interface, making short work of tasks like inventory, time and attendance, and reporting."

McHugh noted that Vital POS leverages technology developed by iMobile3, an SMB-focused company that TSYS acquired in June 2018. The iMobile3 marketplace provides a customizable suite of applications that can be individually curated for merchants and white-labeled for TSYS partners. Solutions such as digital marketing and business analytics can help small and midsize merchants compete in today's hyper-competitive landscape, he stated.

Multiple product options, single access point

Vital POS solutions are built on a foundation of back-office software, providing users with a single access point across all products. The solutions are available in the following formats:

  • Vital Mobile: Designed for mobile merchant environments, Vital Mobile can pair with EMV payment card readers, and supports most iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets. Vital Mobile is quick to set up, easy to use and requires little training, the company stated, adding that the entry-level product is ideal for merchants that need mobility, such as lawn or delivery service providers.
  • Vital Plus: Designed to replace countertop POS terminals and electronic cash registers, Vital Plus is described by TSYS as an elegant, commercial-grade device with intuitive five-inch screen, thermal receipt printer and bi-directional bar code scanner with Wi-Fi capability to facilitate in-aisle sales. Designed to be more rugged and robust than personal mobile devices, the handheld device provides enhanced reporting features and gives merchants more control than traditional POS hardware. This in-store solution has more features than Vital Mobile and is ideal for merchants who want more control and reporting capabilities.
  • Vital Select: Designed for business owners with one or more brick-and-mortar locations, Vital Select is a full-featured POS system that supports an array of peripherals for additional business needs. Vital Select includes robust functionality in such areas as discounts, pricing and inventory management. This top-tier product supports various register configurations, with options for barcode readers and scanners, external printers and weight scales, TSYS stated. Features include inventory management, time and attendance, server and sales associate assignments, and table assignments for restaurant environments.

Tools to grow and scale

TSYS representatives pointed out that the Vital POS product suite is designed to help merchants grow and scale throughout the entire business lifecycle. Entry-level, mid-tier and advanced versions enable merchants to spend less time on administration and more time on core businesses functions, they stated.

Vital POS back-office tools provide an array of business management functions that business owners can access from anywhere. These tools include real-time reporting to track top-selling and low-performing inventory items. Merchants can use this intelligence to manage pricing, apply discounts and maximize profitability. Additional features include analytics, transaction history, taxes, time clock and employee management, discounts, and pricing functionality.

Access to market-leading analytics and reporting enables Vital POS users to make data-driven decisions. They can use data points to evaluate employee performance, see which inventory items are selling, determine which days are the busiest, and manager other business operations, according to company representatives. end of article
