Star Micronics, a manufacturer of mobile, POS printing and customer engagement solutions, added mPOPCI to its mCollection line of POS solutions. Designed to improve security and maximize countertop real estate, mPOPCI combines a printer and cash drawer within a lightweight, compact footprint. The new model comes with data transfer and charging capabilities, and it complements mPOP Bluetooth variations within the mCollection family and support for Android, iOS, Linux and Windows operating systems, the company stated.

Star Micronics representatives additionally noted the growing popularity of Star's mPOP and mCollection solutions reflects increasing demand for mobile POS solutions in retail and hospitality sectors. The device's sleek aesthetics, compact design and optimal connectivity make the mPOP a smooth and effective method for processing customer transactions, they added, particularly for small and midsize establishments such as shops, cafes, florists, food trucks and bars.
As a mobile point-of-purchase solution that combines a cash drawer with a receipt printer, the mPOP takes up minimal space on any countertop surface, Star Micronics representatives noted, pointing out its front-loading receipt printer can be easily placed under the counter. In addition to its ability to support all major operating systems, the mPOP device family is simple, versatile and compatible with numerous POS software and card payment systems, they noted.
The company also noted that the new mPOPCI can act as a centralized hub for controlling a variety of peripherals and providing connectivity for tablets. As a result, its multiple functions and connectivity streamline transaction processing, Star Micronics stated. mPOPCI has also been MFi certified by Apple, which means it can directly connect to iPads and iPhones via a USB-C connection, enabling it to charge the iOS device while simultaneously transferring data using the charging cable included with the device. The mPOPCI also features a USB-A port for connecting external devices or peripherals, such as an optional 2D barcode scanner or customer display, and a USB-B port for traditional POS, the company added.
Describing the mPOPCI integrated printer and cash drawer as an award-winning, next-gen integrated POS equipment design for in-store or offsite selling, Star Micronics said the solution provides a small but powerful POS system with advanced cable management and multiple connectivity options that is easy to set up, operate and maintain.
The cash drawer is available in four bill configurations with adjustable coin slots and flat bill cash management features. The printer provides drop-in and print paper loading, print flat technology and peripheral device connectivity, including an optional 2D USB barcode scanner.
In addition to its expanding mCollection product line, Star Micronics has recently updated its kiosk printing solutions, mG-T series of POS scales, mUnite modern POS display stands and a variety of popular accessories, consumables, and portable thermal printers.
