Amplify messaging on smart POS terminals

POPcodes, a payments industry omnichannel solutions provider, enhanced its Push Button Services (PBS) solution, a white-label B2B application designed to help large acquirers and ISOs build stronger, longer lasting and more profitable relationships with their merchants.

PBS transforms smart terminals into “owned” digital media channels for merchant service providers and their partners, creating an exclusive B2B media channel on smart terminal screens to facilitate seamless customer journeys, both in stores and online, the company stated.

Gregg Aamoth, co-founder and CEO of POPcodes, pointed out that PBS is easy to configure, personalize and brand. “As smart terminals have begun to expand in the market, so have opportunities for new solutions,” he said. “While many platforms are focused solely on customers’ payment experience, POPcodes’ solutions provide both B2B capabilities and omnichannel B2C capabilities and a better in-store experience for customers throughout their shopping and payments journey.”

Flexible, dynamic platform

Aamoth further noted that POPcodes is a flexible and dynamic “cloud and app” hybrid platform, with content, workflow and campaign management features designed for the smart, card-present payment ecosystem. The app uses data-driven machine learning to send targeted messages to specific merchant groups and displays QR codes that lead users to online resources, he added, noting that PBS also supports smart surveys, allowing ISOs and acquirers to rapidly collect merchant feedback and act based on their responses.

Aamoth pointed out that PBS is associated with the direct-to-merchant B2B side of the POPcodes platform, which allows acquirers and ISOs to better communicate with merchants. Designed to create agile, automated deployment and account activation, the PBS solution can be easily changed and updated to reduce infrastructure installation and training costs—and accelerate the time to the first transaction, he stated. The PBS solution also communicates directly to merchants and "key holding" associates, delivering information and promotional messages through ongoing campaigns and urgent operational messaging directly to an in-store point of purchase display; streamlines complex workflows to ensure that both the service providers' goals and the merchant customer's needs are quickly and efficiently met; and, using in-store and online technology, collects feedback and data to further improve communications and the overall merchant experience, according to the company.

Partner-centric solutions

POPcodes works with partners across the commerce value chain, including large acquirers, ISOs, ISVs, VARs, and multi-location merchants, Aamoth noted, adding that the PBS solution benefits all service providers by enabling them to deliver a branded, personalized experience throughout the entire merchant lifecycle, while speeding up processes, increasing sales and reducing costs.

For merchants, PBS allows for a quick and easy setup process and provides an easy, accessible way to train associates on how to use the platform, Aamoth said. Ultimately, these capabilities help reduce the cost of support for ISOs and acquirers, who can then open new opportunities for sales lead generation while streamlining support and sales efficiency, he added.   Aamoth went on to say that POPcodes’ PBS solution supports most industry-leading smart payment terminal devices including Ingenico’s Tetra and Axium lines, and Android-based POS terminals made by Castle, Pax, AMP and others. He also mentioned that POPcodes is continually porting its application to new Android devices and extending the number of use cases it supports.

“For many years, payment terminals have only been used for processing credit, debit or gift cards,” Aamoth said. “With this PBS solution, POPcodes has extended those capabilities to include features like digital unboxing, self-service and automated support, real-time notifications, sales and referrals, merchant satisfaction surveys and other valuable data collection tools.” end of article
