Electronic
Clearing House, Inc. (ECHO) has initiated a pilot program that allows
merchants to accept multiple forms of payment on one platform. The
program, ECHOTERM 2.0, allows ECHO merchants to accept credit and debit
cards, as well as accept checks and verify them against National Check
Information Services (NCIS).
ECHOTERM also includes
address verification services, security code verification (by entering
preprinted security numbers the merchant gains chargeback rights and
minimizes fraud), and commercial card support, which can lower processing
costs for ECHO merchants.
“For the last few months,
ECHO has been working on integrating all of the services of ECHO, RMRS,
and XpressCheX, Inc., into one platform, and the VeriFone Tranz line of
terminals is the first of several terminal types that will operate the new
platform,” said Joel M. Barry, CEO. You will remember from previous GS
issues that RMRS, a check verification provider, was acquired by ECHO last
year.
ECHOTERM 2.0 is available
to all new merchants. Additionally, ECHO is launching a direct marketing
and in house cross-selling program to encourage existing ECHO merchants to
install the new software and add the new services.
