Silverflow Strips Away Payments Complexity with Direct Terminal-to-Cloud API

Silverflow removes the need for third-party gateways, reducing complexity, cost and points of failure for fintech companies

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS, 2nd June, CEST 2026: Silverflow, the cloud-native payments processing platform, has launched Terminal-to-Cloud, a new API that enables payment terminals to connect directly to Silverflow’s host platform, bypassing the need for a third-party terminal gateway entirely.

The launch marks a significant shift from the traditional host-to-host model, in which a third-party gateway acts as an intermediary, translating messages between the terminal and the processing host. Terminal-to-Cloud replaces that layer with a single, direct connection, stripping away legacy software complexity and reducing the number of parties involved in every transaction.

For fintechs and agile acquirers building modern payments infrastructure, the impact is felt across cost, reliability and operational control. Without a gateway in the chain, clients avoid gateway fees and the annual PCI compliance audit obligations that accompany that additional processing layer. A shorter chain also means fewer points of failure - when something goes wrong, there is one platform and one point of contact rather than multiple vendors to chase across an outage.

Paul Buying, Co-founder of Silverflow, said the product was designed to meet the needs of a new generation of payment providers who are building without the constraints of legacy architecture.

“The traditional model asks fintechs to take on a gateway relationship they don’t need just to get terminals talking to a host,” he said. “Terminal-to-Cloud changes that. We’ve built a direct connection using modern technology, so our clients get the reliability and simplicity they expect without carrying the weight of old gateway infrastructure.

“There is a clear need on the part of payments providers for a clean path from terminal to host without the overhead of a gateway sitting in the middle. This solution looks to simplify their stack, reduce exposure to third-party outages, and means they only have one relationship to manage when something needs fixing."

The product is designed primarily for fintechs and agile acquirers that do not already own a legacy gateway and want to move quickly without building or licensing one. Larger companies can also benefit from this solution by incrementally replacing existing infrastructure with Terminal-to-Cloud, bringing the new functionality online in a resilient, secure manner

The Terminal-to-Cloud API is available now. Integration support is provided directly by Silverflow.
