                                 he cryptocurrency realm
                                 has been roiled by cor-
                                 porate and bank failures,
                       T threats of legislative and
                       regulatory actions, and plummet-
ing values. Yet two recent reports
reached differing conclusions on whether the "crypto
winter" is thawing or whether the deep chill will
remain. According to a survey by financial technol-
                                                                Howdy
ogy firm Paxos, 75 percent of consumers interviewed
remain confident about the future of crypto. Pew Howdy
Research Center, on the other hand, found that
                                                                Y’all!
among adult Americans who have heard of crypto-

        and reliability.

It seemed that digging deeper in the crypto and digi-
tal assets ecosystem to ascertain whether recent fail-
ures have been a wake-up call, identify the root causes
of recent failures, explore how regulation might help
and hinder future progress, and determine potential
impacts if innovation moves offshore. Those issues
and more are explored in this issue's lead article.
