Lose the terminal, keep the sale: take payments anywhere on iPhone

Payroc is bringing a new level of mobility and simplicity to in-person payments with the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone for U.S. merchants. Through the Payroc Mobile iOS app, businesses can now accept contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets using only an iPhone—no terminals, dongles or external hardware required.

The experience is designed to be seamless for merchants and customers alike. At checkout, the merchant simply opens the Payroc Mobile app and presents their iPhone; customers hold their contactless card or device near the screen, and the payment is securely processed via Apple's NFC technology in seconds.

Card data is never stored on Apple servers, and Tap to Pay on iPhone uses the same built-in privacy and security protections consumers already trust, Payroc affirmed.

For merchants, the benefits go beyond convenience. Removing the need to purchase, ship, maintain and replace physical payment terminals can reduce both upfront and recurring costs. Businesses can set up a new user in minutes, outfit mobile staff without ordering hardware, and expand to pop-ups, off-site events and field services with no disruption to payment acceptance, according to Payroc.

"Payroc Mobile gives merchants a modern, flexible way to accept payments anywhere they do business," said Casey Conley, chief product officer at Payroc. "It enhances mobility, streamlines onboarding, and delivers the convenience customers expect—backed by enterprise-grade payment security."

Tap to Pay on iPhone works on iPhone XS or later with the latest version of iOS. Once enrolled with Payroc, merchants simply download the app from the App Store, customize their settings, and start taking contactless payments immediately, the company noted.

In addition, Payroc prides itself on backing Tap to Pay on iPhone with in-house U.S. support and a dedicated payments-expert team to ensure merchants get help from real professionals, not just automated chat bots.

The launch also opens new possibilities for Payroc's software partners. A Tap to Pay on iPhone SDK for ISVs is on the way, which is expected to enable developers to embed this functionality directly into their own iOS apps, eliminate hardware barriers and accelerate time-to-revenue.
