Unify store operations, fleet payments and financing
Convenience and fuel retailers can bring more store functions, payment types and funding options into Verifone's Commander platform through enhancements announced at the 2026 NACS Show, held Oct. 6 to 9 in Las Vegas. The offerings address convenience-store operations, commercial fleet acceptance and access to working capital.
"Fuel and convenience retailers are under pressure from every direction—rising costs, tightening compliance, and customers who expect more from every visit," said James Hervey, Verifone's executive vice president of Petro.
Commander Convenience is an all-in-one bundle for convenience stores, including standalone retailers. It supports lottery transactions, loyalty integrations and digital age verification without requiring a backroom server.
The offering extends capabilities used by major fueling networks to retailers managing those functions within a single store environment, according to Verifone.
Commander Fleet combines commercial fleet card acceptance and consumer payments on one primary POS terminal. Designed for truck stops and fuel stations with diesel islands, the integration supports networks including WEX, Comdata, Multi Service, Mudflap, QuikQ and Piston Technologies Inc.
According to Verifone, consolidating acceptance reduces the need for separate checkout hardware and overlapping software licenses while simplifying employee training. Fleet and retail transactions appear in one report, allowing operators to reconcile sales without gathering information from two systems.
The company also announced partnerships with Multi Service Fuel Card, Mudflap, QuikQ and Piston Technologies to expand Commander Fleet's acceptance options. Those relationships bring additional card-based, app-based and cardless fleet payment capabilities to participating locations.
Commander Capital, powered by YouLend, provides financing based on merchants' active payment volumes and store performance. Eligible merchants are automatically qualified, and approved funds can become available in as little as 24 hours, Verifone stated.
"C-stores and gas stations face a unique combination of cash-flow volatility and substantial upfront capital requirements," said Ted Kirk, YouLend's U.S. country head. Retailers can use the funding for equipment replacement, food service kiosks or inventory. Automated daily repayments are calculated as a small percentage of credit card sales, adjusting with sales activity.
